Some sad news. Earlier today Ian Fisher’s partner Sharon contacted me to tell me that last night Ian caught the train to the trainspotters paradise. Ian had been suffering from that extra C that none of us want.
I got to know Ian through model railway forums, and DEMU. He was a typical Scouser able to make a joke about most things in life. He was a very good modeller and no matter what life threw at him to scuttle his latest project he always bounced back telling me about his next big layout. When I visited in hospital a short while ago he was showing me the wagons he was building for his model of Taunton Concrete Works, saying how wicked the nurses were in not allowing him to have a soldering iron. Soon afterwards he was discharged to be cared for at home. He died with Sharon at his side.
RIP my good mate.
